Domestic Worker Visa

Take your Domestic Helper to the UK

The Domestic Worker in a Private Household visa, is designed to allow persons such as a domestic helper to accompany their employer and work for them whilst they are visiting the UK.

Due to the strict labour laws in the UK, a formal declaration and UK contract must be drawn up to facilitate the issuance of this type of visa. As part of our service, we will prepare these necessary documents for the client, and ensure all other supporting documents are checked and included in the appication.

Who is eligible for this visa?

Staff employed for domestic duties aged over 18, who has worked for their employer for at least 1 year in the same household as the employer.

Domestic staff include:

Cleaners, chauffeurs, cooks, those providing personal care for the employer and their family and nannies.

Are there other limitations?

  • domestic staff must travel to the UK with the employer, their partner or children
  • should work as a full-time domestic worker in the same household as the employer during the stay in the UK
  • must leave the UK prior to expiry of the issued visa (no later than 6 months in any case) or at the same time as your employer, whichever is sooner
  • must show the staff can support themselves in the UK without the need for public funds

Please note

Refusals are quite common when the employer has not considered the basic requirements properly, or has failed to provide all required documents; seeking the right help is crucial. These refusals are costly and inconvenient if you are planning a trip.

Also any visa refusal or breach of conditions of stay, is reflected on the applicant and not the employer, meaning that the applicant will have a negative immigration history; this will present problems for them in the future and must always be declared.
